Global Pigeon Tour

Did you go on a Philly Pigeon Tour and say, “I could use ten more days of that?”

Are you interested in learning about pigeons, in the places where pigeon history happened?

The Global Pigeon Tour will be a journey across the U.S. and Europe, to visit pigeon history landmarks and meet with people who know pigeons.

We are currently assessing interest in this tour. It is not scheduled or finalized.

If you are interested — or at least curious — please click the button below. You’ll be the first to be notified when the tour registration opens, and your (optional) input on a few questions will help us craft a great tour!

Itinerary (tentative)

  • Start Bryant Park in New York City, where the term “rats with wings” was coined. Learn about how and why pigeons got their undeserved bad reputation.
  • If we’re lucky, we might get to meet with a person of note in the pigeon world — such as a pigeon researcher, pigeon sociologist, or pigeon science communicator.
  • Fly to Northern Scotland, to visit the Northern Hebrides, cliff-covered islands with large populations of rock doves (a.k.a. pigeons).
  • Take a train to London or Wales to meet with the U.K. National Pigeon Advocacy. Get an inside look at their work building a volunteer-run pigeon coop.
  • Depending on when this tour runs, the tour might also include a pass to the U.K. National Pigeon Advocacy Conference.
  • Optional excursion: Take a bird and landscape photography class with a renowned nature photographer
  • Travel to one more city, possibly Berlin or Venice, to see landmark sites in pigeon history, meet with pigeon advocates, and learn more pigeon science.

Note: If we have participants who are not based in the U.S., we may start the tour in Europe, as travel to the U.S. is not safe right now.
